From research to industrial application

bamb:ustry has emerged from university research in the field of sustainable structural materials. Our interdisciplinary team examined the structural potential of fast-growing natural materials for technical applications. As part of the research, structural prototypes were developed, mechanically validated and tested under realistic conditions.

Based on validated structural prototypes, we are now transitioning the technology into the industrial pilot phase.

The first pilot applications were successfully implemented in the areas of:

  • Mobility components (e.g. stroller systems)
  • Modular fair systems and exhibition construction

Our focus is currently on the scaling of manufacturing processes and integration into existing industrial value chains.

Our vision

We believe that industrial structures of the future do not need to consist of fossil raw materials.

Our vision is to make structural components made from regenerative materials the industrial standard.

Our mission

We develop sustainable tube and structural components as an sustainable alternative to metall and plastic solutions –

Functional, scalable and aesthetically convincing.

Funded Project

bamb:ustry is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the “Start-up Transfer.NRW” funding program.

The goal of the project is to transform several years of research results from Aachen University of Applied Sciences into a marketable product: quality-assured bamboo structural components as a sustainable alternative to fossil-based materials in the manufacturing industry. In addition, the manufacturing process—which has thus far been laboratory-based—will be scaled up to an industrial level, and preparations will be made to establish the company.

Funding for the project, titled “bamb:ustry,” officially began on September 1, 2026, and will run through February 29, 2028.
